34 Fernwood Lane
Cottage/Home in Lac du Bonnet
3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms
Step into the dream of living on a prime riverfront lot with million dollar views: pink and blue or golden sunsets and sunrises, rich red, orange and yellow hues of fall and trees kissed by hoarfrost in winter. In the quiet solitude of dawn or dusk when the water is as calm as glass, Deb glides across the stillness in her red kayak, while centering herself through nature and "mindfulness meditation." Bob (Realtor and "Fisherman Extraordinaire") has lived the dream of fishing out of his own backyard. Our beautiful 1650 sq. ft. 3 bedroom lakefront bungalow has been a home and sanctuary; a retreat from our fast-paced, hectic and stressful schedules. It is a place where we have been able to unwind and re-fuel in the embrace of nature. It is time for 34 Fernwood Lane to embrace another deserving family, whether you are retiring to cottage country, wanting an "escape" or thinking of commuting as we have done for the past decade. There is so much to be said about commuting. You can de-stress on the ride home...and if you are still in need of nurturing...a jetted tub in the main bath or 4-person hot tub on the deck will warm your soul and melt-away the troubles and stresses of the day. On your drive in to work, you can organize the day in your head, listen to great music and motivational tapes or engage in meaningful conversation. Life slows down long enough to put clarity into your life. You will garner a greater appreciation for our Four Seasons: harvest moons, vibrant fall colors, hoar frost...
The floor plan is open, spacious, light, bright and inviting. Features include a great room offering floor to ceiling windows(after a decade of living there, it still takes our breath away) as our landscaping is tiered-up overlooking the lake, patio doors to deck, cathedral ceiling, stone fireplace, open to "gourmet's delight" kitchen featuring a custom arched window, ample cupboard and counter space in addition to an island return, built-in newer dishwasher(2015), built-in micro-wave/hood fan, stove, fridge, corner pantry, dining room, inviting sunroom with an abundance of windows to bring in the greenery of the forest indoors. It is a great place to curl up with a good book (or write one). There are 3 fireplaces in the home: one in the sunroom (electric), a second in the living room (wood burning) and third in the master bedroom (electric). Other features include: main floor laundry offering a stainless steel washer and dryer, to remain. Inspiring river views from the master bedroom featuring patio doors to the deck overlooking the river, framed by hues of forest green. A cherrywood tone electric fireplace adds ambience to this space, further offering a walk-in closet and 3-piece ensuite. The main bath offers neutral fixtures and "that" jetted tub we spoke about....and may I suggest candles, a soothing cup of green tea, or a glass of Shiraz...and a great book. May I also suggest the best-selling book: Love, Compassion & Power - Healing the Hurt & Transforming Lives. (I wrote it...and will leave you a copy...and a bottle of Shiraz...as they go well, together). "Wrote while living here."
There are two decks: one runs the full length of our beautiful lakefront home and features a 4-person hot tub, bar fridge and gorgeous lake views, framed by greenery. The second deck is located off of the sunroom in the backyard...and is a great spot to barbecue and await guests...or family members.
The private road was curved for privacy and security reasons so that the home was not immediately available from the road. There is a park and a boat launch on the street, and there are two golf courses within close proximity: Black Bear and Granite Hills. The town of Lac du Bonnet offers a beach, dock, shopping and all amenities. The Canada Day festivities and fireworks are sensational and attracts thousands.
....and there is more....a 29' x 26' over-sized double garage with a loft for a future "Manhattan-style" loft for guests, a heated man-cave ( the size of a single garage, built within the last few years), a heated shed/workshop with a workbench and cabinets, a boathouse, 2 docks, and a shoreline patio. We had the road built when we purchased the property as the previous owners used the neighboring road. We also had a gravel path put in on one side of the property, to the water, which allowed us to drive our quad down to the water. In the winter....we made a skating rink. You can skate, ice-fish, snowshoe or snow-mobile out your back door. In the summer, hop in your boat for a fun day of boating, fishing, swimming and connecting to your loved ones.
